![]() ![]() They go in the next week, film for 15 days, and done. I've heard stories of actors finding out at the beginning of November that they're going to be in a movie for that Christmas. Regardless, even if the strike lasts as long as the last one did in 2007/2008 (100 days), that brings us to the end of summer, give or take, and these movies have an insane turnaround. There are several Hallmark writers in the WGA, but I think most of the writers are non-WGA, given that you can have ten movies on Hallmark produced by non WGA signatories and not qualify for WGA membership. Also, I've looked "Hallmark" up in the WGA signatory company confirmation, and it doesn't come up, so unless their business name is something different (and maybe it is), it doesn't look like Hallmark is a signatory. While Hallmark obviously makes some of the movies we see on their channels, a good portion of them are produced by other production companies, and several of the major players are Canadian and therefore aren't guild signatories. are non-union, so the majority of the movies currently in their pipeline shouldn't be impacted by the strike. Most of the companies that make movies for Hallmark/Lifetime etc. I've worked/met with several "Hallmark" producers/production companies over the past year and a half, and I think only one of them was a WGA signatory. I'm a screenwriter currently (trying) to break into the Christmas movie market. Remember a few years ago when Hallmark had more than 30 and after they already started airing them, they said “one more.” They wrote, shot, and edited it in record time. ![]() And they could even make up for that lost time and double up their productions after it ends. If the strike lasts 4 months that means it would only cut down 1/3 of the Christmas movies at the most. Last year I watched a different one almost every day, and on weekends 2 or 3. I assure you, there will be no shortage of Christmas movies. There are probably a bunch from previous years you may not have seen, so those would be new as well. Between Hallmark, Lifetime, Up, Ion, and a handful made for streaming, even if the strike goes on, they’ll still have a bunch to show. I assume they stagger them since I can’t see them filming all at once, so they may already have a dozen filmed. Hallmark made almost 40 movies last year. If you want to watch them, I’d say just watch them. Basically, don't be the reason something is banned in the future. Don't do anything Jerky and there should be no reason for me to add more rules. ![]() I'd like to allow self rule to be the general motto of this sub. For multiple reasons, but in general it's a good idea not to leave written evidence of your crimes. If it's prohibited by reddit or the US government, don't do it here. Nothing Illegal or otherwise Prohibitied on Reddit If you wouldn't see it in a Hallmark Movie it's not allowed here (Adult language in comments is allowed just don't over do it) So don't do it.ĭon't have nudity, porn, or any of that stuff. If Hallmark movies is to become a place for Hallmark Fans and hopefully Hallmark Movie actors and actresses to do AMA's we can't have piracy. No selling things.ĭon't post links to pirated copies of Hallmark Movies. No affiliate links, unless someone asks for one. No posts from your own page more than 1 time per week. If you're going to self promote your blog or site, you can do so in the comments of a post you posted but it has to be related to this group. I want this to become a sub for everyone who loves Hallmark Original Movies to discuss, share, laugh, and cry together.ĭon't do anything spammy. ![]()
